Ignatieff, the Godfather

Ignatieff told Harper that if he mess with him “I will mess with you until I am done”. Spoken like a true…  errr thug? And good luck trying to blame Harper for the current economic crisis. As the BC election have shown, voters are not like before, where they would automatically dump the government in power during an economic crisis. Harper can easily counter-spin Iggy’s claim by claiming it’s a world problem and then try to claim credit for the fact that Canada is in better shape than the rest of the industrialized nation.

Reading political forums and comments on the internet, a prevailing sentiment seems to be it’s the same old politics whether it’s Harper or Ignatieff. Neither are worth going to poll for. And this is dangerous because Harper nearly got his majority because of voters apathy. But I don’t think I want to see a Liberal majority either. We need a minority government until a leader with a clear vision come along. He or She does not have to be a charismatic leader. Just someone who could elicit trust and exhibit sincerity and clarity. Neither Harper nor Ignatieff have those qualities.  They also do not represent the views of the majority of the Canadians.

  1. “As the BC election have shown, voters are not like before, where they would automatically dump the government in power during an economic crisis. ”

It does help, unlink BC, if voters have a credible alternative.

  2. Funny, I thought that too when I read what Iggy’s come back was – juvenile. I also agree with there isn’t much difference between Iggy and Harper and we are going to have an election 5 in 4 years???? Iggy had his chance to use his support for the libs to continue backing up the Harper agenda in January with EI requests. He did not, so now with all this meaningless chest thumbing is just too rich.
Unlike Wreck Beach, there are other altneratives – there is more than lib/tory same old story!

  3. Given that a majority of BC voters stayed away from the polls is more an indication that they felt there was no choice to make. One was as bad as the other.

I despise Campbell, but I voted, and I can state with no guilt that I purposely spoiled my ballot… because there was no lesser evil.

Using BC as an example doesn’t work.
