Ignatieff: Gaza Humanitarian Aid Would Have to Wait…

Toronto Star quoted Ignatieff as tying the humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza to cessation of hostilities.

“Ignatieff said Canada must do whatever it can to get humanitarian and medical relief into Gaza when there is a ceasefire, but rocket attacks on Israel by Hamas must stop first.” (The Star)

I don’t think Canada have to pick sides. On one side are the Israeli right wing war hawk who constantly wants war. Peace deal was once close at hand but the Israeli Prime Minister pushing for the peace deal was abruptly assasinated. On the other side we have the Hamas who’s popularity hinge on there being a war.  No sides deserve Canadian’s unconditional support. It’s unfortunate to see both Ignatieff and Harper positioning themselves too close to Israeli war hawks, giving up Canada’s neutrality for an unworthy cause.

  1. “When the world community at the UN tried to stop the violence, the call for a ceasefire was blocked by the U.S., and Canada, to its shame, has fully supported the U.S., actually opposing the call for an immediate ceasefire,” “These actions by Canada and the U.S. amount to a green light for the killing to continue, and they make our governments complicit to the crimes being waged in Gaza.” – David Orchard. David Orchard who entered the Israeli consulate said people in that the city of Montreal could not support the continued bombing in Gaza. He also called for the federal government to break off relations with Israel until the military action stops. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090108/national/gaza_canada_reaction

  2. Is David Orchard the last honest politician left in Canada?

Nobody else has had the balls to demand the government take action against Israel for its wholesale slaughter of Palestinians.

    Bravo, David!

    Iggy: take note!
