What the Governor General Decision Could Look Like

A decision by the Governor General could read something like this.

On proroguing: During this time of economic uncertainty, it is unacceptable for Canadian not to have a  government for over a month. Prolonged uncertainty would not be good to our stock market and investors confidence. You should continue to govern with the confidence and support of the majority of the elected member of the house, as required by law. Failing to satisfy this basic tenet of our democratic law, you have no other recourse but to accept the will of the majority in Parliament.

On calling election: Canadian have just been to the poll and judging by the record low turnout, they are not keen to see another one. You, Mr. Harper have preached about prudence. It is prudent that we don’t waste millions of dollars in tax payers money on an unwelcome election.

On threat to Canadian unity with Bloc supporting the coalition: Canadians all over Canada from the east to the west have voted for the MP they think would best serve their interest. Quebecers have voted for Bloc MP to represent them. Quebecers are Canadians, hence vote from their elected representative count as much as vote of other Canadian MP.

And off the record Mr. Harper. For the love of God, stop using Quebecers as pawn in your own political game. You are doing more damage to Canada’s unity with your silly game. For crying out loud, you have also coalesce with the Bloc against past Liberal government and relied on them to keep your minority government in power.

The last paragraph is “undiplomatic” and won’t likely be used. But it would be nice to see the Governor General dressed down Harper.

And getting a gauge of the biasness in airwaves, ahem CTV. I have been boycotting them and while channel surfing, stopped by for less than a minute. Saw Lloyd Robertson. Then Craig Oliver. He must be responding to Lloyd’s question. He went on to paint Liberal as being in disarray and fearful of weak Dion. Needless to say I continue on to other channel. It’s still the same CTV alright. Harper’s propaganda channel. From the people I talked to, other channels commentators have spoken unkindly of Harper’s gimmick. Seems like most of the media have awaken, save for few Harpersites that are still clinging on to the sinking ship of Harper – who is looking more and more like a tyrant.

  1. I purposely avoid CTV as they are tabloid Fox North TV and a mouthpiece for the Cons like the National Post (losing steam as we speak). They don’t even pretend to be unbiased anymore. So I appreciate the update.

  2. I was very impressed with the CBC coverage. They called Harper on quite a few of the lies in his statement. Layton was brilliant, Prime Ministerial.

  4. Canada is a democratic nation and it’s citizens have the right to decide who leads the country. Let the government govern. We cannot afford a coalition government, here’s why:
