Obama’s People Power Against Lobbyist Corrupted Congress

The number of voter turnout in the just concluded U.S. election broke records. What is more significant, aside from the fact that they just elected their first black President, is how Obama was able to inspire the youth to get involved. One of my concern was how successful can Obama push his plan against a congress that are under the pocket of lobbyist. It turns out we have a glimpse of the solution. There’s been reports of e-mail going out to millions of followers who contributed money, time and support during the election. It talks about upcoming plan for mobilization.  Apparently, he would be asking their support soon. He also signed up the co-founder of facebook. Press speculated that it would be used when important legislation comes up in congress. This is a very good news since congress would be under the watchful eye of the electorate and would be under tremendous pressure if they choose to defend the oil company and go up against Obama. A Democrat legislator already warned Obama against going too far. The legislator quoted by CNN the night of the election claim Obama’s win is due to discontent with Bush so Obama should be wary of thinking it’s a blanket endorsement for him.

Interesting time of change ahead in the U.S.

Plus today, Obama said he would use executive order to overturn Bush’s executive order.

A quick note on how Obama could integrate helping U.S. auto-industry with his clean energy plan. General Motors is rolling out Chevy volt in 2009. Obama could offer incentive for both manufacturer and consumer for producing and buying that line of car. He could then accelerate the building of charging stations across the U.S. highways.

  1. get your facts straight, the youth vote only went up 1% in this election, not exactly inspiring is it. go drink your kool aid.

  2. Wow, lie boldly and you hope people would think you have the fact straight.

One estimate have it that 24 million ages 18 to 29 have voted, an increase of 2.2 million over 2004. Youth voters was up to 54.5 percent. A 19 percent increase when compared to 2004.

I could quote more stats but a simple Google search would have shown you the facts. But I suspect you already know the real facts.

In case you are genuinely ignorant and rely only on Fox news or CTV, here’s an article / news for you.

Are you part of the Bush campaign? Calling people liar to cover your own lies.
