With Harper’s rating tanking, CTV seems to be trying to help Harper by playing up a clip of Dion asking for a CTV reporter to clarify his question. Mike Duffy, with his mock but unconvincing concern look, tried to play up Dion as being fatigue and can’t understand simple question. Mike Duffy said just when Liberal are getting the wind on their sail Dion goof. How is asking for clarification on a question goofing? And when Dion asked for clarification, the reporter just look at him like he is stupid, probably in an attempt to set the stage so that they can portray him as such. Mike have a Liberal guest but hardly let him speak. Instead he talk to the NDP and Conservative guest and his question is not much of a question but statement to lead the two non-Liberal guest, who is of course ready to take on anything they could use against Dion. Mike even try to setup his Liberal guest. Right after the guest spoke, Mike called the name of another guest but keep camera focused on the Liberal guest which of course hearing another persons name did not reply. Mike try to make it appear like the Liberal guest is stupid for not replying while the camera was on him. He then laugh and have a smirk on his face. Mike have bold headline in his show saying “Campaign fatigue?”. Trying to suggest that Dion is fatigued and can’t take the pressure. Which plays beautifully to Harper’s disinformation campaign of portraying Dion as being weak.
CTV has obviously sold their soul and lost any sense of professional journalism. Everyone should write to CTV and tell them we are boycotting all their shows until they get rid of Mike Duffy and stop their Fox News style bias reporting. Enough is enough! This is Canada, not Fox News nation!
I’ll repeat Dion quote yesterday.
“Stephen Harper may speak better English than me, but I speak the truth better — in both official language.”
After CTV’s act today, we can add “CTV and Stephen Harper may speak better English…..”

I like Galloping Beaver idea. Collect information about their advertisers and tell them we will have nothing to do with their product as long as they advertise with CTV.

Not anyone on the Liberal campaign Ferret.. you might wanna ask your supporters who seem to be growing increasing angry on the campaign trail.
As for CTV and Mike Duffy Cyberwander, there’s a reason we call CTV the Conservative Television Network, and there’s a reason Elizabeth May flayed Duffy on national television. I wouldn’t get too worked up over anything the Duffmeister does or says.

I deleted the CTV from my best news bets several months ago. Heavily biased to Conservatives and it shows.

This tactic is going to backfire if the libs are smart about framing the issue. First of all, the question was misleading even to me, someone who works in communications with an excellent grasp of my own first language. Secondly, CTV is using this (By proxy of course for Harper) as an illustration of weakness, yet, there are probably hundreds of examples of “Steve” mispronouncing, or mangling the french language – just wait for the shoe to drop.
Additionally, dare I say it, its almost now looking like a cheap shot similar to the famous Chretien Ads. The cons and CTV are trying to frame the incident as a personal attack and make political hay out of it. Since their “brochure” of a platform hasn’t gotten any news, they are desperately trying to change the channel, and insulting their counterparts has already cost them enough you’d think they’d learn.
I can’t wait to show these assclowns the door.

OK I will take that back about Don Martin at the NP. He apparently has some sense to call it for the ridiculous fun making by a PM of a Canadian whose 1st language isn’t English. I am not sure Quebec will take well to this fun making either. Plus I’ll give that Don authored a great article that left a strong impression on me at one time. Did anyone stop to analyse the way the question was posed??
Repeat the question, and you may see that it is structured in such a way as to confuse.
After listening to the question three times, I couldn’t help but admire Dion at attempting to answer such a convoluted question. If anything, Dion’s intelligence got in the way of a stupid question.

As a Canadian citizen and also a former journalist, I found CTV’s decision to air the unedited tape of Steve Murphy’s interview with Stéphane Dion despicable. Dion obviously trusted the journalistic team to edit, and any self-respecting journalist and his team would have done so. Trust is a critical factor if people are to express their views openly and in a fair manner. I am truly disapointed with the CTV decision, a below the belt hit on the interviewee.

Ethics and Media does go together, at least that’s what they teach the journalist at school. So just because you think ethics and media does not go together we should just accept it? That kind of attitude only lead to decay and a backward society.
And no, Liberal media is not my flavor. I want objective unbiased media. What makes you think I only have two track mind of either I am only with one or the other. “Either you are with us or against us” is something practiced by Bush and Harper not only in words but also in deeds. I sided with Liberal during this election but might not do so again in the future if this Harper incited smear succeed and results in “senior” Liberals power grab. CTV has been known to be bias (known by most people except for the intentionally ignorant Harpersites). But what CTV did on that incident crossed the line and any decent professional journalist with ethics can tell you that. CTV’s action will live in infamy as an example of unethical journalism.

I work in the mainstream media. Ethics are gone, period. You want something that never was and can never be. The media wants you entertained first…informed, maybe. Unbiased objectivity doesn’t sell papers or get ratings. I sat and watched with my own eyes reporters trying to character assassinate Stockwell Day simply on the grounds he was a Christian, all the while praising the Liberals for being “tolerant”. As for Dion, what goes around comes around. If he can’t take a little bloody nose, maybe he should leave politics.
Infamy? CTV’s action will be long forgotten by the time most people go trick or treating simply because the media will have them chasing another carrot.
