Harper’s Man: Criminals = Immigrants

Harper’s MP Lee Richardson says immigrants don’t obey law, break law and are responsible for increasing crime in Calgary. And blaming crimes squarely on immigrants is not racism but “being practical”. However, a Calgary police disputed Lee Richardson claim that crimes are being committed by immigrant noting that majority of the criminals in Calgary are Caucasian. The cop went on to say that comments like those of Lee Richardson are reason hate crimes are increasing.

h/t to Liberal Arts and Minds blog: Can you see the pattern yet? Hint, It’s not Paisley

I thought Harper’s keeping a tight leash on his local candidate, since their comment is not relevant in a national election. Calling Mr. Harper, one of your leash went loose. Surprisingly, the main stream media hardly covered this. So my assertion of Canadian Media resembling Bush apologist U.S. media are not that far off. NDP MP’s cursing in the internet forum got headline news coverage today but a Conservatives racist / xenophobic comment hardly get a mention.

The ironic part is Harper have been trying to paint himself as a friend of immigrant and have been trying to woo ethnic voters. From the Chinese in BC, to sending unsolicited holiday card to Canadian that they were able to identify as Jews. To know the real Stephen Harper, one has to look at his past comment before he tried to re-image himself as champions of immigrants. In an interview with The Report magazine on January 22, 2001, when asked who have voted for Liberal in the west (considered Conservative territory), he says:

You’ve got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society.

  1. “I stand by my retraction” …????

I have never been so embarrassed to be represented by one of the Albertan Old Boys!

What has happened to the integrity of a public servant when the statement above is sufficient to explain away such unbridled ignorance???

Let there be NO mistake … power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. Richardson is nothing more than another hog at the trough looking for a lifetime pension … no doubt because comments like “I stand by my retraction” would get him standing in the unemployment line in any other business … ugh!
